101 Reasons to Watch. (101 Scariest Horror Movie Moments of All Time)

Today we decided to mix things up just a little bit. Instead of watching a horror movie or watching a horror movie trailer, we decided to watch the first episode of Shudder’s 101 Scariest Horror Movie Moments of All Time. First and foremost, I was surprised by the caliber of guests they had, though I suppose I shouldn’t be, as Shudder has been churning out quality content for years. They have guests speak to how the specific scary movie moment affected them and brought about their love for the genre. They have everyone from David Dastmalchian (Ant-Man and The Last Voyage of the Demeter) and Tom Savini (legendary makeup effects artists for films such as Day of the Dead and Friday the 13th) to Andy Muschietti (director of It 2017) and Jo Lo Truglio (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). It is very interesting to see what has effectively thrust people into this genre. What made the say “This….this is what I want to do.”

So far, one episode in, it has brought back many fond memories for me. It reminded me of old favorites that may have been pushed to the wayside to make room for newer ones. The nostalgia is real with this one, my friends. However, at the same time, there are plenty of new films to find with it as well. It may play out like an old MTV top video countdown, but it has so much more. It has heart, which may sound odd, but its true. You’re sharing this moment of shared love and interest with the people you’re watching it with or with the people on screen. Horror may be the least talked about genre, minus one month out of the year, but the community can be seen far and wide. As my brothers movie boyfriend would say, “We aren’t friends, we’re family.” (I may be paraphrasing to fit my needs here.)

Obviously I have a lot of feelings after just one episode, so that should tell you something. Watch this one. You won’t be disappointed.

101 Scariest Horror Movie Moments of All Time is streaming right now on Shudder or Amazon Prime through the Shudder add on.
